Meet our Staff

Brooke Mazurkewich (she/her)

Operations Manager

Originally from Calgary, Brooke started working with Moving Forward in May 2022 as our Food Security Intern and we were thrilled that, by the time she graduated from Mount Allison in May 2023, she had fallen in love with the Greater Dorchester community and accepted the position as our first full time Operations Manager! Brooke majored in International Relations and Sociology, with a minor in Community-Engaged Learning. She brings a ton of skills and passion to the Co-operative and has become an important and well-loved member of the community. We feel so lucky to have her on board!

Abigail Pond (she/they)

Food Security Intern

Abby joined our team in January 2024 as a food security intern. Originally from Truro, NS, she is in her 3rd year at Mount Allison University with a double major in Political Science and Sociology. She is committed to reducing the stigma surrounding food insecurity and introducing people to our space and Commuinty Fridge. Her passion for community involvement started as a child when spending her days off at her local food bank with her grandfather.

Avery Nicholson (She/Her)

Food Security Intern

Avery started volunteering with the community fridge in September 2023 as part of a Mount A Community Engaged Learning course and officially joined the team in May 2024. Originally from New Glasgow, PEI, Avery is going into her 4th year at Mount Allison with an Honours Psychology major and a Community Engaged Learning minor. Passionate about community building, Avery has spent her life involved in her community, particularly as a 4-H member for nine years. She loves getting to know the Dorchester community and helping to reduce food insecurity to improve the community’s physical and mental well-being.
